ASCA & RME: your beauty treatments covered by insurance

There is a persistent belief that beauty treatments are a luxury — an indulgence one grants oneself or postpones. Yet when these treatments address the nervous system, posture, and the body's deep equilibrium, they cease to be a superficial pleasure. They become an act of health.

This is precisely what ASCA and RME certifications recognise. And it is why a significant portion of our treatments can be reimbursed by your Swiss complementary health insurance.

Caring for yourself is not a privilege. It is a right your insurance can support.

What are ASCA and RME?

ASCA (Swiss Foundation for Complementary Medicine) and RME (Register for Empirical Medicine) are the two main certification bodies for therapists in Switzerland. They guarantee that the practitioner has completed recognised training, adheres to a strict code of ethics, and practises within a rigorous professional framework.

At Adriaesthetic, our team holds both certifications. This means that therapeutically oriented treatments — lymphatic drainage, Chi Nei Tsang, energy rebalancing, reflexology, aromatherapy — are recognised by Swiss complementary insurance providers.

How does reimbursement work?

The process is simpler than one might expect:

  1. Check your coverage — Consult your complementary insurance policy or call your provider. Ask whether ASCA and RME treatments are covered, and at what percentage.
  2. Book your appointment — Choose a therapeutic treatment at Adriaesthetic. No medical prescription is required for ASCA/RME treatments.
  3. Receive your receipt — After your session, we issue a therapeutic receipt compliant with ASCA/RME requirements, including the certified practitioner number.
  4. Submit to your insurer — Send the receipt to your complementary insurance provider. Reimbursement typically arrives within 2 to 4 weeks.

How much can you save?

Reimbursement rates vary by contract, but most Swiss complementary insurers cover between 40% and 60% of ASCA/RME certified treatments. Some contracts reimburse up to 80%.

Concrete examples:

  • Chi Nei Tsang (CHF 120) — reimbursed up to CHF 72, actual cost CHF 48
  • Energy rebalancing (CHF 150) — reimbursed up to CHF 90, actual cost CHF 60
  • Lymphatic drainage (CHF 120) — reimbursed up to CHF 72, actual cost CHF 48
  • Reflexology (CHF 120) — reimbursed up to CHF 72, actual cost CHF 48
  • Aromatherapy (CHF 110) — reimbursed up to CHF 66, actual cost CHF 44

Over a 6-session Chi Nei Tsang programme (CHF 720 total), reimbursement can reach CHF 432. Therapeutic care becomes accessible — without compromising on quality.

Which treatments are eligible?

All therapeutically oriented treatments delivered by our certified practitioners are eligible for ASCA/RME reimbursement:

  • Chi Nei Tsang — deep abdominal massage
  • Manual lymphatic drainage
  • Energy rebalancing
  • Reflexology
  • Holistic aromatherapy

Purely aesthetic treatments (HydraFacial, photorejuvenation, cryotherapy) are not covered. However, our rituals that integrate a therapeutic component — such as the Rituel Alignement, which includes energy rebalancing — may qualify for partial reimbursement on the therapeutic portion.

Why it matters

The boundary between beauty and health is an artificial construct. The body makes no such distinction. Lymphatic drainage that relieves heavy legs also restores the complexion's glow. A Chi Nei Tsang session that releases abdominal tension transforms posture, breathing, the very way one carries oneself.

ASCA and RME certifications acknowledge this truth: caring for the body as a whole is caring for one's health. And your insurance can accompany you in this.
